Billy Abbott Takes Over Restless Style, And We Get This…

billy-abbott-miller-restless-style

Is Restless Syle really supposed to be a high end fashion magazine?  Because honestly I can’t tell.

And finally, this gem:

I see what you did there Mr. Abbott.  Billy better enjoy this while it lasts, because once the ’stache comes back from his two months vacation, “That’s yo ass Mr. Postman!”

Rumors from The Black Box, More Shucking and Jiving from Neil and Devon

bryton-james-mcclure

Neil and Devon are headed to BET y’all!  Rumor has it that Neil is going to become a promoter *eye roll* and help Devon with his music *double eye roll*.  Um..yeah…okay.  I guess for these two this is a step up from spending their one episode a month driving Miss Lily…well, until that cow mafia shows up.

Hopefully this is just a false rumor, b/c I rather Neil and Devon stay MIA than watch this foolery.  In the words of my homegirl Al, unless Newman Enterprises is buying Arista, this is another story line for the Winters that won’t mean a thing.

UPDATE:

It’s true :( .  This week Neil decides he wants to help Devon promote his music. Bye bye Chancellor Industries.

Eric Braeden has agreed to ‘return‘ to The Young and The Restless.  I’m Dun, and can’t even be bothered to upload a picture (I lied, balloon boy welcomes you.  Thanks Moni!), LOL.  Oh well, Adrienne Frantz, there goes your extended screen time.

The Pink Slips Keep Coming, Thom Bierdz Has Also Been Given The Boot

thom-bierdz

In an interview with The Advocate’s Michael Fairman, Thom Bierdz reveals that not only is his six month contract with The Young and The Restless up, but he also only appears in eight episodes this November.  He’s asking fans to write to CBS, and request that Phillip Chancellor stays in Genoa City.

Here is the thing; I know I am on in eight episodes in November and then the truth is, I sort of disappear. My six-month contract is up. And I really want to support the gay community, and I want the gay community to support me. I would like the gay community to write to CBS and say, ‘We want a gay character on the air,’ and I want to be that?.

All I have to say, is that the behind the scenes drama at Y&R is FAAAAAAAAAR more entertaining than what’s going on the show.

Not This Again. Sony Wants Melody Thomas Scott Out.

melody-thomas-scott-2The internet is all abuzz with rumors that Sony is trying to force out Melody Thomas Scott at The Young and The Restless.  Scott went through drama filled contract negotiations over the summer, but eventually re-signed with the show.  Now ‘insiders’ are starting to talk, saying Scott’s contract was only a short term deal to coincide with Eric Braeden’s Victor Newman being written out.

Sony wants Scott either dropped to recurring, or gone entirely from the show, and Melody wants a contract.  Looks like Sony is trying to pull a “John and Marlena” at Y&R, by getting rid of all the show’s vets.  I hope those of you who are still watching are prepared for the Amber/Billy/Daniel/Chloe/Kevin/Jana/Ryder/Lily comedy hour.

Remember When Y&R Actually Gave the Black Characters Decent Storylines?

Ruh Roh! Has Sean Kanan Been Let Go from Y&R?

sean-kanan

Word is from tamxxx at SOC, that:

Sean Kanan(Deacon) has been let go from the Y&R and he will be written of the show very soon.

So…they keep Ryder, but get rid of Deacon.  Um, yeah.  Frankly, there are several other peeps that need to take that ride out of GC.

Fun Fact: Wilson Bethel (Ryder) Auditioned for the Role of Chance

wilson-bethel

In an exclusive interview with Daytime Confidential’s Jamey Giddens, Wilson Bethel (Ryder), reveals  that in fact, he’d auditioned for the role of Chance:

Daytime Confidential: I have to admit, when I usually hear about a new Fisher-Baldwin coming to The Young and the Restless, I am less than enthused, but I have loved Ryder from day one! How did the role come about?

Wilson Bethel: I came in for the role of Chance, but I wasn’t right for the part. I had a prior relationship with Camille, who does the casting for Y&R, and I guess through some random course of events I ended up playing Ryder.

Hmmm, I think Camille made yet another poor casting decision (if she’s the one who’s been doing all of the new hiring as of late) .  I think Wilson would have made a better Chance.  And maybe that’s because I think any actor would make a better Chance, and any actress (at this point)  would make a better Mac.  Send these two characters off to wherever it is that Nikki’s whisking Victor off to.  And then have Chance and Mac come back with personalities.

See Maria, I wrote a quick story for you.  Take it, use it, make it work.  And even though we’re in a recession ya’ll!  Maria, I won’t make you pay.

The Dad from “Boy Meets World” is Tucker on Y&R

william-russ-2

William Russ has been cast on The Young and The Restless as Tucker.  Yeah, I don’t give two shits either.

Eric Braeden and The Young & The Restless, After 30 Years It’s Over

eric-braedenVictor Newman is really leaving Genoa City, y’all!  In an ‘exclusive’ to Entertainment Weekly, Eric Braeden tells them that it’s over:

“We reached an impasse in the negotiations,” Braeden told EW.com. “I have shown flexibility, they have shown none. It is over. I pulled the plug. That’s it. No more. If I show good will, I expect it to be reciprocated. If there is a rigid attitude on the other side, what is there to to negotiate? That’s a sign of utter disrespect. I will not negotiate with people who remain aloof and arrogant about the whole thing. Not after 30 years, I won’t do that. I’m saying this with a great amount of sadness because I’ve had nothing but respect for my fellow cast members, I have deep respect for the crew who has done an extraordinary job year in and year out, and I have enormous respect for (head writer) Maria Bell.”

Strangely, I feel genuinely sad.

If You Already Thought Lily’s ‘Old Man’ Looked Old…

marcus-patrick…wait until you see him standing next to Lily’s father as played by Marcus Patrick Soap Opera Digest is reporting the the Days (Jett Carver) and Passions (Father Denny) alum was seen auditioning for the role of Malcolm Winters.  I’m hoping this one doesn’t pan out.  It will be tough trying to replace Shemar Moore, and I’m not quite convinced that Patrick is the right choice.  Plus, does this guy really look old enough to be Lily’s father?

Personally, I say keep Malcolm lost wherever he is, unless Shemar Moore returns, or the writing team at Y&R is replaced.  Whichever comes first.

p.s.  For those not in the know,’old man’ is slang for your husband, boyfriend, or cut buddy.

p.p.s.  Do a Google image search for “Marcus Patrick,” and see what you find, LOL.

Casting News, Yvonne Zima Is ‘Daisy’

yvonne-zimaAccording to Daytime Royalty, Yvonne Zima has been cast as Daisy, Summer’s babysitter.  Her storyline supposedly involves Noah and Daniel (WTF?), but according to SOC, she has ties to Ryder.  I just have one question:  WHO THE HELL CARES?

This show wouldn’t have to slash people’s salaries, if they would just quit hiring newbies.  Again, NO ONE CARES.

p.s.  If Yvonne looks familiar to you, that’s because she’s the younger sister of Madeline Zima, ‘Grace’ on The Nanny.  Or Claire’s ‘girlfriend’ on Heroes, LOL.

Is Amber Moore As Essential To The Y&R Cast As Victor Newman?

amber-moore-victor-newman

Adrienne Frantz seems to think so.  Okay, well, let me not put words in the woman’s mouth.  On Air Soaps‘ Michael Fairman caught up with a few Y&R cast members at the 2009 World Magic Awards, and he asked them about Eric Braeden’s much publicized contract dispute.  He chatted with Kristoff St. John, Daniel Goddard, Sharon Case, and Adrienne Frantz.  But it was Adrienne’s words that caught my eye:

Eric Braeden has, for the moment, left Y&R during a contract dispute with SONY and the show. What are your thoughts on the hold-out and the stalemate between actor and the powers-that-be?

ADRIENNE:
They are cutting contracts all around. I mean everybody has to bite the bullet. It’s not like anyone gets special treatment. If you don’t want to play fair with everyone, then don’t play. If you want to step out…. everybody is dealing with the same stuff. So if anybody thinks they are better than anyone else, then they should leave if they want to. It’s a cast. We are all working together. We are all working our hardest to make it go, and if you don’t want to work with everyone than you are not helping.

To a certain extent I get what Adrienne is saying.  But can anyone out there name one company for me where everyone gets paid the same salary, even when people are doing the exact same job?  To say that all the actors are on the same playing field, and that no character is more important than another is a straight up lie.  No matter how unfair or unsettling that may be.  In any company, people are paid based on what they can bring to the company, how long they’ve been with the company, how valuable they are to the company, what kind of experience/education they have, etc.  Say what you want about Eric Braeden and Victor Newman, but both have been with this show for nearly 30 years, and are very valuable to the brand that is The Young & The Restless.  Victor Newman is nowhere near my favorite character on this show, but there’s a reason Eric Braeden/Victor Newman has been on so many soap magazine covers.  He sells!  And is probably one of the most recognizable faces in this genre, both in it, and out of it.  It’s ludicrous to think that this character is on the same level as say, Daniel Romalotti.

This Is Interesting, Billy Abbott Buys Restless Style Magazine

billy-miller-michelle-staffordNow we know what Billy Abbott decides to do with his life after quitting Jabot.  He buys Restless Style Magazine y’all!  And what is the first thing Billy does with the magazine?  He writes an expose on Victor Newman.  I guess this one rivals Leanna Love’s Ruthless, because Mac is up in arms about what Billy’s done.  He doesn’t care though, and continues his vendetta against the Newman family by posting an online article about Victoria.

Clearly Mackenzie isn’t ride or die, because word is, these two events push Bac to the breaking point.  So…if Chloe is busy nursing Chance back to health, and Sharon is making moves with Adam, and Amber is still carrying on with both Daniel and Deacon, and Lily still has her head up Cane’s ass…who is Billy going to make the beast with two backs with?  Esther?

There’s Nothing Like A Little Stabbing To Make You Realize You Love Someone

chloe-mitchell-chance-chancellor

Spoiler Alert!  For all you Chloe and Chance shippers, it looks like November is your month.  Sir Chancelot (GC’s most inept detective– where’s Gil, Maria???) gets himself mixed up in a robbery, and uh oh, he’s stabbed.  Now cue the music for the old “someone you’ve been indifferent about is suddenly fighting for their life, so now you’re in love” story line.  That’s right, Chloe realizes that she could lose the one guy in all of Genoa City who might actually give a damn about her.  She must do something amazing while tending to Sir Chance at the hospital, because Nina realizes that underneath Chloe’s hard exterior, she’s just a lovable ball of fun, and she does really have deep feelings for her son.

Mr. Kitty, A True Soap Story

Mr. Kitty may be gone from our tv screens, but he will forever live on in our memories.  Take a look at the life of the legend that was Mr. Kitty.  Y&R cast including, Kristoff St. John, Joshua Morrow, Stacy Haiduk, and Peter Bergman dish on what this fine specimen of feline was like behind the scenes.  Enjoy (because this is light years more entertaining than the actual show).

Mark Your Calendars, Lily and Cane Renew Their Vows Thursday

lily-winters-cane-ashby-lane

I don’t know if you want to DVR this, or make sure you fast forward it (I know which one I’ll be doing, LOL) but on Thursday, after what? two months of marriage, Lily and Cane renew their vows.  Lily is suddenly healthy enough to get off house arrest, conveniently right after Colleen’s memorial (I C What U Did There Maria), so her warden/purse holder/con man husband/daddy allows her to visit Colleen’s grave.

While there, they end up in the chapel, and Cane apologizes for like the first time for lying to Lily, but hey, he still loves her.  So frick and frack decide to reaffirm their commitment to one another with a vow renewal.  I’m not sure if there’s an actual priest present, or if this is one of those Meredith and Derrick post-it deals.

Whatever it is, methinks the cattle mafia is coming to town soon.

Spoiler! Ashley Grows Half A Brain, And Tells Victor She Wants A Divorce

ashley-victor-nikki-newman

Ashley Abbott finally buys half a clue (heifer still doesn’t realize she didn’t give birth, and still thinks Adam is her new BFF) this week, and tells Victor she wants a divorce.  All it took was Victor indirectly causing poor Colleen’s death by bringing crazy Patty Williams to town.  After 800 some odd years of this triangle, Ashley also finally accepts Nikki and Victor’s undying love for each other, when she goes to the hospital to get ‘her’ daughter, and finds the two lovebirds cooing over ‘her’ baby.

Supposedly, all of this somehow makes Ashley a stronger woman (really?  Hogan Sheffer wouldn’t know how to write a strong woman if she punched him in the face), and Ashley decides she wants the same thing for her daughters, that Nikki got for her children when she separated from Victor.  But Nikki and Victor have other ideas.  Those last lines makes me think that there may be some truth to the following spumors/rumors from Tamxxx at SOC:

  • Victor and Nikki are reunited.
  • They are succesful with this and so Adam will finally get whats coming to him!
  • Ashley sees Nikki kissing Victor and is angry/upset so files for a divorce from Victor!
  • Ashley is awarded the ranch and Newmans as part of her divorce settlement and she kicks Victor out of the ranch where he is living with Nikki.
  • Ashley moves in with Sharon’s baby (which she thinks is hers lol) and invites Adam and Sharon to live at the ranch with her .
  • This results in Adam and Sharon having a love affair.
  • Victor and Nikki team up and plans to bring Ashley down.

Eric Braeden Gives His Most Candid Interview Yet to the NY Post

eric-braeden-003I know y’all are probably tired of hearing about Eric Braeden, and his showdown at the O.K. Corral with tiic at Y&R.  But this shit is more entertaining than the show.  In his latest ‘tell all,’ Braden gets his most candid yet with the NY Post.

Some colorful quotes from the article:

“If I signed a three-year f***ing deal, you honor it!”

“Let’s call a spade a spade. Management always gives the impression that all [soap] actors are the same, but it’s bulls**t to claim that. They aren’t.”

“You expect to be talked to in a sensitive way, not suddenly hit over the head by invoking a clause that was never invoked before and to say ‘What the f*** happened?’”

I can’t wait to see how this one ends.

Diva Tour ‘09 Is On, Eric Braeden Gets (More) Real with Entertainment Weekly

Eric Braeden is MAD y’all. He is not letting Victor Newman go down without a fight, and honestly, I can’t blame him. The 30-year Y&R veteran continues his ‘Candid Interview 09′ tour, this time speaking with Lynette Rice of Entertainment Weekly.

For those who think all this drama is just Braeden’s way of getting tiic to bend to his will, and that this is all a big bluff (even I can’t accept that Victor Newman is really gone) this is what he had to say about Sony’s current contract offer (warning, there are a lot of ‘dollar’ words in his answer, get out your dictionaries, LOL):

As of today, are you willing to take what Sony offered?
No. There is no appreciation of the fact that I’ve been an important part of the show for 27 years that has been no. 1 in the ratings. That’s extraordinary. So to be dealt with in a perfunctory matter as if you had just known these people for a few months is what is most offensive. This is a certain corporate culture now that is very deleterious.

I’ll say it again, HE MAD, lol. The Mustache makes his last on screen appearance November 2nd, and as for the way he’s written out, Braeden isn’t feeling that either:

You taped your last episode on Sept. 23. Was that the way you wanted Victor to go?
No. It was rushed. It was obviously meant to intimidate. It was obviously done with enormous forethought to coincide with the end of the 26-week cycle. Essentially that is what the business is doing now and has been doing for a while. And quite frankly, it’s outrageous. When I sign a three-year deal, I’m obligated to fulfill that deal. The producers, however, can come to me after a half-year and say, “We’ve changed our minds.” Where in the world of business does this kind of contract exist? Do I blame the people for wanting to squeeze as much out of us as they can? I do not. The question is, when do you squeeze too much?

Just like the mistake they made with killing off legacy character Colleen Carlton, tiic at Y&R are idiots if they believe Adam Wilson is the future of this show, and can replace Victor Newman.

The interview is a good read, but Braeden lost me with this one:

Can you see the genre still existing in 10 years?
Yes I can. How many reality shows can you watch? They’re so obviously phony [my personal note: Like Y&R isn't]. Our show deals with adult problems in a long continuous manner, and very much like the way things are dealt with in real life. In that sense I think there will always be a need for (soaps). They’re almost novelistic in their approach.

Two words: YOU LIE!
