Adrienne Frantz (Amber Moore) knows what works for her. While I’m not exactly sold on the dress she wore to the Daytime Emmy Awards, I have to say that I love her overall look. Her hair is great, and her makeup is subdued. Now if only she could pass on this ‘less is more’ look to her Y&R alter ego. Gold is a nice color on Adrienne, and this beaded number reminds me of the dress she wore to the 2008 Academy Awards. Yes, Adrienne Frantz went to the Oscars. And no, I don’t have any idea why, LOL.

I think it’s safe to say that Stacy Haiduk (Mary Jane Benson) had the most interesting red carpet accessory at last night’s Daytime Emmy Awards. Stacy brought along her Y&R co-star, Kitty, as her date/purse. From what I understand, Kitty was actually alive at one point. So while I give Stacy mad kudos for being the most talked about celeb who walked the red carpet, homegirl better be happy PETA wasn’t around, LOL. I think this young man captures my reaction best:

Someone at the crap fest that was otherwise known as the 2009 Daytime Emmy Awards, thought it would be a great idea host a fashion show– and I use the term ‘fashion show’ hella loosely here– featuring some of daytime’s hottest, or not so hottest couples. I had serious second hand embarrassment for all parties involved in this foolery. And Christel Khalil…no…just…no. You can judge for yourself, but in the words of Blaine Edwards and Antoine Merriweather, “Hated It!” (two snapz for the kids)
p.s. Somewhere, Tyra Banks was backstage shaking her damn head. Why didn’t any of these hos smile with their eyes? And where is Miss J when you need him?
e.t.a. The Guiding Light tribute got cut short for a commercial break, yet this foolery was allowed to go on? And mind you, this crap came directly before a segment in the show dedicated to starving children in Africa. Directly before. Without a commercial break. End of.
e.t.a. part II. To further add insult to injury, Guiding Light didn’t even get to have a couple in this whack ass ‘fashion show.’

“When Newbies Run Amok!!”
In continuing with my series of articles answering the question, “why are soaps on the decline,” I’d like to now turn my attention to the problem of the Newbie. It is an ever present problem that has only increased over time as many writing teams, instead of giving the existing character something new and inventive to do, much rather bring a newbie on to “spice” things up. Usually, this has led to disaster. Newbies are being used as band aids to the bleeding wounds that are caused by numerous plot points, dead end reveals, and unimaginative storylines.
In looking at the problems associated with too many newbies (or the overuse of a few newbies) I would like to focus on the Young and the Restless. Sure, many soaps do it, but Y&R in the last eight months has so declined in ratings and quality that they need some serious help. Newbies running amok isn’t its only problem (it has many) but it is a definite offender when it comes to the newbies at the moment. Y&R in the last eight months has been on a steady decline in the ratings and the storylines have left MUCH to be desired. They’ve also, at many times in the past eight months, left me pissed off, disillusioned, and overall- bored. So excuse me if my article comes off a bit bitter. I do apologize (read: not really). Lily wants to leave the nest again and live with her lying husband Fillip. Kneel and Devon don’t want her to go. If it’s because of the bag she’s using to pack her sh-t in, I can’t say that I blame them.
Lily is a seven year old girl.
Kneel is being rather overbearing as per usual but I see where he’s coming from. It’s a common situation. Someone you care about is dating a real dick. Time and time again you try to make her see the light because he’s hurt her before and you know he’ll hurt her again but she keeps taking him back. She’s so in it; she’s so wrapped up in this person that there’s really nothing that you can say to make her see it. She has to decide for herself. Neil is on shaky ground. Is Victoria Rowell returning to Y&R? If so, hell must surely be freezing over!
Well, well, well, its looks as if Y&R’s favorite Diva, Victoria Rowell, is once again in talks to renew her role as Drucilla Winters. Not only is she in talks, but sources say, that she is in the final stages of contract negations. After polls, letters, and fan out cry, Maria & co. have realized that there is only one woman who can play Drucilla Winters. But get this, Dru is already being written into a current storyline, and well since the Winters only have one storyline, it’s not hard to guess which one it is. Not only that, but VR herself was on CNN this past weekend, and said that she’s optimistic that Dru is still alive and bitching. (Well she didn’t say that last part but this is Dru, so…) Per her twitter page, VR stated that the ball is completely in Maria’s court. Let’s pray that she’s a rebounder.

Spoilers that I don’t care about!
These maybe a little late, but for those who care, have at it.
Here comes the, umm, yeah
Amber tries to play Deacon, but unlike her purse holder, Little D, he isn’t a fool. She wants Deacon’s help to clear Little D. So he tells her it’s marriage or nothing. (Serious D? serious?) She turns him down and then goes to Little D, who lets her know that he doesn’t need her help, he can handle Big D on his own. Amber, knowing that’s a bunch of BS, runs back to Deacon and falls on her sword.
Well I guess she’s doing it for love, but I just think that she wants the D from Big D.

JT and Hater#1 aka Ball Buster aka Daddy’s little kiss ass aka NotVictoria aka Bortoria aka THAHT (Read: that HO aint Heather Tom), continues to get the FF from me. Alright for those who care: THAHT, is still mad that JT snuck his balls out of her purse. JT tell her they’re his, and he’s not giving them back. He also tells her that her pappy is why MJ is in town, Hater#1 knows her pappy is a SOB, but doesn’t want to hear it. So they part, still mad each other. JT heads over to CC were they share a passionate kiss! JT can’t believe that a woman will actually let him take the lead, but balls begins to to feel self conscious, so he doesn’t go any further. Well, he shouldn’t have started what he wasn’t going to continue, because DAMN daddy’s PI got pictures. Hater#1 goes to the GCAC and see’s Big D, who’s all come to my room so we can talk. THAHT follows sex on a stick up to his room to talk. (Yeah, Ho you are your dumbass mama’s child) She talks about Art, Big D is bored so he lays on her to get her to shut up, but thanks to Amber it stops before it REALLY get’s started. Hater#1 hides and realizes that she almost got her some good stuff, but she’s can’t handle the D train so she slumps back to her husband. Later daddy show his little ass kisser the pictures and she’s all angry, and confronts CC. (NO HO you need to take that to you man, FIRST) CC’s tells her that it was just a kiss, but THAHT thinks JT and CC have been playing hide and go get for a while.
Does anyone really care? Well I’m sure they care about JT/CC, but I just don’t care about NotVictoria.

Out of protest for the storyline that will never end, I refuse to recap anything about this stupid Gaslight Ashley thing. I also reserve the right to take that back should anything too funny to ignore take place. I’m just tired of seeing Eileen Davidson crying all the damn time.
Moving forward, the Newman children that matter to Victor come by so he can tell them that Nikki left town. She’s called off the wedding. Something’s wrong with Victoria, but I can’t put my finger on it.

5 Things I’ve Learned About “Love” from Y&R, but Wish I Hadn’t!
I have watched Y&R on and off now for about 20 years, and after 20 years I’ll admit that my memories of plot twists and certain events are rather sketchy. Yet for better or worse — mainly worse– my first recollections of Nicole Reed (aka Nikki Newman) are etched firmly in my mind.
My very first memory of Nikki was watching her weep mournfully before Jack, her then husband, about her addiction to alcohol. I remember thinking, “am I supposed to feel sorry for this character?” If I was, I didn’t! I felt that Jack was much too good for her and could not understand why she was so completely obsessed with a man (one Victor Newman) who did not seem to genuinely love or respect her. But what did I know about “love” at 15? Clearly nothing! According to the Y&R “Bible,” Victor and Nikki are the loves of each other’s lives. They are soulmates; the representation, par excellence, of “real love” in Soapdom.
Sadly, after finding myself enjoying Nikki Newman as a character for the first time in almost 20 years — due to her honest and refreshing relationship with Paul Williams — this past week Y&R has, once again, inveterated why I generally dislike Nikki and loath her relationship with Victor.
On the eve of Nikki’s marriage to a kind, faithful, honest, strong, patient, loving and attractive man — a man that has brought out the best in her — Nikki has decided to throw her hat back into Victor’s ring. For some reason, unbeknownst to me, Victor Newman, a rich, powerful, manipulative, emotionally abusive, narcissistic, vindictive, cruel and disrespectful man, continues to be held up by Y&R’s head writers as the kind of man we women should want and desire. The brothers Abbott start us off right by getting plastered. Cryin’ Jack’s cryin’ to Billy about how he’s been played for a fool. Billy turns out to be the less-drunken voice of reason, and carries his big bro out as Mac’s coming in. She deduces that she’ll need to order another case of scotch as Kay enters. She was supposed to meet Nikki but she’s running late or something. Mac thinks it’s weird that she’s marrying Paul. She figured Nikki would always be up Victor’s ass forever. Oh, girl, just you wait.
Are Katherine Chancellor and Michael Baldwin Headed for Guiding Light?
According to CBS Soaps in Depth they are. Although the peeps at Guiding Light are denying it, word is that both Jeanne Cooper and Christian Leblanc have already filmed scenes that will appear in the final episode of daytime’s longest running soap. Guiding Light’s final episode airs September 18th, so tune in then to see if the rumors are true. What do you think of Katherine Chancellor and Michael Baldwin showing up in Springfield? With GL coming to an end, do you think Y&R should pick up some of their characters and/or actors? Personally, I just want to see what both of them look like under the ‘natural’ lighting of GL’s ‘new’ production model, LOL.
Sharon Stands Alone
Niclueless and Red renew their vows (like that’s going to help), and the first thing he does, is run and tell St. Sharon. He’s like the Cabin was fun, and so was the hotel and yeah, it was good girl, but I’m back with Red, and we are going to be a happy family, if not quite happy, we will be a family. Sharon’s like are sure, because I just kicked Jack to the curb for the 100th time, and Nicks all “damn this shiz was bad timing”. Jack tells Red that the Saint played him again, and Red’s like “damn that shiz was good timing.” Well, Red doesn’t know that there will never be a good time, since Jack didn’t inform her that Niclueless was the father of The Saint’s baby. (It looks like Phick is out of the loop on that little bomb.) Jack is keeping the Saint’s secret, because the Saint wants to stand on her own, she doesn’t need a man, and she will take a note from the Queen of Hip hop Mary J and be “Just Fine”. She wants to take care of herself, and her baby. The Saint knows that she is messed up, but step one is to admit that you have a problem, and the Saint isn’t going to be Nicks HO any mo. Red has Summer pretty well trained. Every time Niclueless is around, Summer’s working her little butt off to make him realize what a good thing he’s got going with her and Red. This time, Summer’s using the wedding DVD to reel him in and it’s working like a charm.
Watching the DVD puts Niclueless in a marrying mood so he drops down on bended knee and proposes to Red again. Instead of punching him in the face, Red giggles her agreement and I look on aghast because…Wtf is wrong with these people? Nick changes his mind for the tenth time about a marriage he’s in and Red happily goes along with it? Have all the women in GC gotten a lobotomy? (more…)
Nikki’s Ditzlemma (is this even a spoiler?)
If anyone cares, and let me be honest, most people who read this blog DON’T, here is a spoiler about Nikki and Paul’s wedding.
Nikki is still sweating Victor, who isn’t worried about her. He’s moved on to Ashley, but Nikki is still in love with The Mustache, who isn’t in love with her. On the other hand, Paul is in love with her and they are supposed to get married. The closure the wedding get’s the more doubts Nicole has about going though with it. Now Paul’s dumbass knows that Nikki is still in love with the mustache, but he’s all I’m sure it won’t affect us. Lauran over hears Paul describe Victor as the love of Nikki’s life and is worried, because well, she knows that Paul is about to have a broken heart. Paul, wanting to show Nikki how much he means to her, buys her a necklace with an ice cream scoop charm, which represents how they met 50 years ago. (Aint that cute ya’ll) Nikki sees it, and the doubts come faster than Victor’s foot up her ass, because realizes that the PI is feeling her on a level that she just isn’t feeling him. Paul says he understands that getting a head out of Victor’s ass is an adjustment, but the air is so much fresher up here. She’s like you are so right, I will see you tomorrow at the church. Well less than 24hrs later, Nikki decides to pull an Assby and tells Paul that she isn’t ready for another divorce, and she needs sometime. So Nikki leaves, because MTS didn’t resign soon enough.
Well, I hope someone enjoyed this, because I didn’t and it will get the FF.
